  • The island is called Kalanggaman "CALANGAMAN" because of its bird-like shape. “Langgam” is a Visayan word for “bird.”
     

  • What makes this island unique from others is its long sandbars that are stretching on both sides of the island.   The 1.5  hour boat ride to the island may be a bit challenging bur it is all worth it when you finally set foot on this paradise. If you want to forget your troubles for a  day or if   you want to have a quick getaway with your loved ones, Kalanggaman is definitely the place to go.
     

  • At both the eastern and the western part of the island, the shore is covered with slabs of stone as if artificially placed there as a windbreaker. The sea is clear all around. This is the sand bar at the southern end of the island which is more than a hundred meters length. However, this is submerged under water during high tides. The current at the end of the sand bar is so strong that if one is not careful enough, one might be carried out to the ocean.
     

  • Entrance fee to the island is P500 per foreign tourist and P150 per local tourist. Rental per cottage is P250. The boat rental to the island is php 800 per person, for a minimum of 15 persons. It departs at Malapascua between 8-9 am and leaves KALANGGAMAN island at 2:00 pm and brings you back to Malapascua
     

  • The crossing from Kalanggaman to Malapascua is noted to be treacherous especially towards late in the afternoon. That is why it is always advised to go there in the morning.
     

  •  It’s not advisable to to sail back from the island past 3 or 4 pm as the seas could get very rough plus you’d want to have enough time to be off the waters before nightfall.

  • The small, 6-hectare coral island is found in the waters of the Visayan Sea near Bogo City, Cebu. It is part of the protected marine sanctuary that features a lighthouse and three dive sites around the island.

  • According to legends, the Capitancillo islet was named after the captain of a Spanish trading vessel, Captain Basillo. Story goes that he offended a local datu, Datu Bugtopasan. The datu cursed the captain by transforming his ship into an island.

  • On top of the small island, you’ll find a solar-powered lighthouse beside what’s left of the original old structure. The Capitancillo Lighthouse is one of the oldest lighthouses in Cebu province. It was built in 1905 and was reconstructed in the 1950s with the white steel tower. The 83 feet (25 meters) high tower flashes three white lights every 10 seconds. It was listed as one of the 27 major lighthouses of the Philippines in the Faros Españoles de Ultramar. Lighthouse designation is ARLHS PHI-079.

  • Maripipi Island, home to the famous Sambawan Island; has a charm of its own, known for its crystal clear waters, friendly
    locals  and white biogenic sand. Nowadays the island of
    Maripipi has its newest nickname “The Isle of Gems”; with its recent boom in tourism, it provided a much needed income for municipality and its residents.

     

  • Maripipi island has a coastal circumference of twenty-four kilometers. The least populous and the smallest municipality,
    the town is separated by a channel from the mainland.
    Maripipi was a vital link for the Luzon-Visayas commerce
    for its strategic location during the Spanish times.
    It was as they say where the Spanish galleons set ahoy.

  • Islq La Manoc  is composed of 2 islands connected by a shallow shifting sand bar. According to the native people,  the name came from the islands’ figure. From a far, it looks like 2 chickens (manok) facing each other. They said, one is the cock nd the other, the hen. Another version of the story also talked about hearing chicken crows in the island on midnight and the island  has no permanent residents due to the scarcity of fresh water so we don’t think you can find any chicken roaming, scratching for food.
